Pigeons are among the most misunderstood and mistreated birds, yet they are also some of the most resilient and intelligent. At Freckle’s Fellowship Pigeon Rescue and Sanctuary, we are dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating pigeons (and sometimes doves!) who have nowhere to go, with special love and care for the particularly vulnerable!
Our Mission
Rescue
Every year, hundreds of pigeons are injured, abandoned, or left struggling to survive. We step in to provide urgent medical care, rehabilitation, and a safe space for Melbourne pigeons to recover. Whether they’ve been attacked, fallen ill, or were simply unwanted, we give each bird the individual care they need to heal and regain their strength.
Sanctuary
Most pigeons we receive cannot return to the wild. Some have permanent injuries, disabilities, or lifelong medical problems that make survival on their own impossible. For these birds, our sanctuary offers a safe, enriching, and loving forever home. Here, they can live comfortably with other pigeons. They receive specialized care and enjoy a life free from harm. We are committed to giving them the best possible quality of life!
Adoption
Pigeons make affectionate and intelligent companions, and many of the birds we rescue are looking for a home of their own. Whether you’re new to pigeons or an experienced bird caretaker, your adoption can help us free up space in our rescue to allow us to continue saving more and more birds in need. By adopting, you’re not just gaining a pet – you’re giving a loving soul a second chance at a happy and fulfilling life!
